Mama's Home!
Wink has told me that Cal is asking for me all day long during the last few days. He says that Cal's desire for me to be home is particularly strong when he is in the bathroom. You see...I've scarred the poor child. One morning he ran to the toliet just seconds before I needed to leave for work. I couldn't wait for him to finish up his bathroom routine (he tends to take forever!) so I kissed him goodbye and left him in the bathroom with daddy. This is a great alteration from our normal routine where all three of them get "kissies" and "huggles" and they stand in the carport and wave me off to work. So now whenever I'm at work and Cal uses the bathroom, his fear that I'm "leaving" haunts him. :(
The other day Cal checked out an adorable book from the library. It's a board book about a daddy and little girl waiting for mommy to come home from work. Here is the text:
Mama's Home!
Text by Paul Vos Benkowski
Illustrated by Jennifer Herbert
Let's go outside and wait for Mama to come home.
Is that Mama?
No, that's not Mama, that's just an ice-cream truck.
Is that Mama?
No, that's not Mama, that's just a parade.
Is that Mama?
No, that's not Mama...that's just a pirate ship.
Is that Mama?
No, that's not Mama, that's just a circus train.
Is that Mama?
It is! That's Mama!
Mama's home!
Now I'd love to claim that Cal's daily yearning for me has made him obsessed with this book. And maybe subconciously that is true. But overtly he states that he LOVES this book because mama comes home in a 'vroomy' car and there is 'steam' coming out from her car as she flies down the street.
Figures.
