Potty training day 3

Fantastic potty training day. I even gave Cal an "out" this morning by asking him if he wanted to wear his underwear. He said "yes" and so we were on another bathroom-filled adventure of a day. And the kid is amazing. He only had one accident the entire day and it was while he was standing in front of the toliet and couldn't get his underwear off fast enough. I even stuck him on the seat "mid-stream" and so it was less of a mess to clean. And he works for practically nothing. Everytime the timer goes off he gets to put a sticker on his chart. He decides what the reward will be at the end. Today he chose dried mangoes (before nap), fruit snacks (for staying dry during nap) and lemonade (before bed). Wow! I'm changing the system tomorrow so there will only be one sticker per day and more lemonade throughout the day. The very difficult Love and Logic approach is to give young children lots of opportunites to fail so that they will learn in a safe environment. This is not a potty-training approach, just a general parenting approach. In this case, I am interpreting it as lots of drinks and chances to practice using the toliet. Tomorrow it also means venturing out into the world and (hopefully) not having accidents in the car or in other environments. Eek gads! Can I throw in the towel even if he wants to stay dry?
